    Hi,
Does anyone know where i can get a harness adaptor for this? The Aus car seems to be different from European and US ones.

    Thanks,
    Ian

In the end I removed this unit from the car and replaced it with a $150 unit from Strathfield Car Radio that was 10 times better.

        Sorry.

Yeah I want to replace mine too, but getting an adaptor from the VW harness to ISO is proving difficult.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. In this instance I went to Jaycar and got a 16 pin connector, cut the cable on the new radio and on the VW loom and plugged them together.

I'm not really a fan of chopping the loom but might have to.

For those of you like me who didn't want to chop the harness....

The eurovox harness has an adaptor which is buried in the centre console. This disconnects from a standard VW/Audi adaptor. I have used an old A3 (1999 TDi SE model) adaptor I had in the shed from a previous car in the UK. This connects up any standard ISO stereo.

Whats also cool about this is that the Eurovox uses a powered aerial adaptor, so you don't need to buy one of these (You can just use whatever your new headunit comes with!)

Now all i have to do is rewire the phone kit.

I'll look out links to the harness adaptor I am using later. But I think it's just the generic one for VAG cars.

Fantastic patience, compared to my chopping efforts!

No patience really. I had the adaptor and the thought that there was no way VW would put a special loom in the car just for Aussie radios! So I untangled it from under the radio pocket.

Now I just need to find out which VW lead is the radio mute for the phone kit!
