  • Anyone given this a go?

    hi there guys

was browsing through another forum and came across a thread on fitting seat heating elements to a car which didint come with them from factory...

just wondering if anyone on here has given it a go, not too concerned about the woring side of things, but more taking apart my recaro's...

seems like a bit of a risk, however a warm bum is oh so tempting haha

    heres the thread

            haha

my only concern would be that the recaros seem to be a little different in assembly to other seats, perhaps therefore making this a little harder

the bottom element seems easy enough, just the back one looks to be the pain - i stuck my fingers in the groove and it looks to be two pieces sort of a thing, hard to explain...

            meh, all food for thought

                      hahaha....very true!

i have heated leather seats in my Polo GTI and they are awesome....there is nothing better than a burnt ass and back on a freezing night. my gf absolutely loves this feature as she is a freakin reptile.....she is cold even in the middle of summer to the point of wearing jumpers and jeans.

one issue with the heaters though in relation to the 'burning'. there is a scroll thing on the dash board with the numbers 0-5 (for the level of heating). if the heat setting is not on 5 it takes about 20mins to even start heating up. HOWEVER, with the setting on 5, it takes about 5 mins to heat up and then starts to burn.....like really burn, and hot leather hurts! you then have to turn it back to about 3-4.

                      Cheers,
                      Rhys
