    VW Polo GTi = I4 1.8 Turbo (2006)
    110kw @ 5700rpm
    229Nm @ 1950rpm
    1230kg
    0-100km/h 7.8secs
    0-400m 15.6

VW Mk4 Golf GTi I4 1.8 Turbo (1998, not sure when GTi started being built for Mk4)
    110kw @ 5700rpm
    229Nm @ 1850rpm
    1324kg
    0-100km/h 8.9secs
    0-400m 16.7 secs

Remember that the Mk5 golf came to Australia in 2005, so the youngest Mk4 GTi is still going to be older than the Polo GTi.

Did you find out if there was a problem pete?

Ah I've seen stats for the mk4 as low as 8.2 - VWs official time is 8.5 iirc

i havent found any problem yet. i drove the Polo to work today and noticed that power of the Polo feels very much the same as the Golf does down low but where the Polo seems to keep pulling through the rev range with boost the Golf just doesnt do anything. I still need to check the DV and make sure it isnt leaking but to do that i need to get some new clamps for the vacuum hose as i am most likely to destroy the ones on there when i pull them off...
