  • My Baby: 2000 MKIV Golf GTI.

Well I've finally got some decent pics worth posting of my ride.

Just a quick run down... I bought it a few months ago after owning two Falcons (EA and an ED). I wanted something modern, Euro, sporty, and decent fuel consumption. Golfs fitted the bill perfectly but I couldn't afford a GTI in Victoria, hence my travels to good ol' South Aussie to pick up my baby.

It's got a factory sunroof, Recaro seats, Audi (I think TT rims, may be copies?), slotted front rotors, pooey King springs, plumbed back blow off valve (not sure on brand), and a (stainless steel?) exhaust system (again, not sure what brand). Oh and a cheapo DVD player/screen.

Enough rambling, here's the pics after a big bath yesterday (and then decides to rain today ). Comments appreciated.

PS: Excuse the poor quality of photos. They were taken with my mum's crappy point-and-shoot Pentax. Some photos have grain which is intentional.

Nice pics mate. Looks very clean and crisp.
I would be careful though. You might struggle to tow that 12 wheeler you're parked next to there. If you wanted to do that you should've bought a Touareg.
    Cheers,

nice pics! theres so many places in melb for good pics compared to sydney argh!

those rims have the perfect offset for the mk4 too! you need to get yourself chipped, giac, apr, revo, oettinger .. then you'll actually get to use the power! '

looks like a 02/03 model actually..

Thanks for the comments guys Makes looking after a nice car and taking photos all the more worth it. I can't take too much of the credit though as it looks like how it is because of the previous owner.

I am itching to get a quality SLR so it'll be a toss up between coil overs, a chip or a camera!

Nah photos were taken in and around Knoxfield and Scoresby. I love industrial sites for photographing but I'm always thinking of other places to photo a car.

sheesh, when i was looking around for a gti, i found it very hard to find something in SA which was priced well compared to the eastern states. ended up finding one, however found that there were alot more in sydney and melb which were reasonably priced

looking very nice, i like the oem wheel look

i reckon its looking pretty schmick, my only suggestion is to paint the lower valences silver to match the rest of the car

                  nice find

                      Well chosen, definitely envious.

Love the TT wheels, I just got a set for my 2.0 but haven't fitted yet. Do they poke at the front all? They look pretty flush in the first pic. I did a trial fit and the rim is outside the guard, plus they are convex so the centre is pretty far out.

Haha I'm hanging to lower it about an inch - just to get the guard above the tyre but I like the practicality at the current height. Just trying to decide on what coil overs to buy.

I had Koni shocks fitted to my ED and they were fantastic.

Cheers mate. I find they sit almost perfectly in line with the guards. There's no noticeable poke. I still don't know if they're genuine or not but I'm a fan of the OEM look. I'm still not sure if I will ever change wheels as much as I want wide 18s and stretch..
