The DP definitely helps with spool up.

Anything over 2.5inch on an GTI is a waste. Getting a 3inch dp it to fit without rubbing will be a challenge.
On a Mk4 GTI the DP is the restriction, the cat is metal as well so not much of a restrictor.
Sorry OP, no recommendations for NA cars, remus seems common tho.
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
    MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

Back to this again; Snowy, how sure are you that it's a 2.25" exhaust?

Guy at exhaust shop told me it's 2"

After lookin at quality of mufflers there - shall be getting remus muffler.. and center resonator removed. If still not happy, i'll be importing magnaflow metal cat convertor from US and getting it installed - saving about $200 off a no name high flow cat locally (as i was quoted $400 for one installed!)

Yeah, he's right, I just went out to the garage and measured my old one, Inside Diameter is 2". Don't know what made me think it was 2.25".

I went looking for places that would do my cat-back for me if I supplied all the parts they needed minus piping. I wanted mandrel bends to begin with but it's probably not worth the....200% increase in price I would have had to pay. The bloke down at Midas in Burwood told me he'd do my cat-back for me with just mild steel bent pipes for $150 cash.

Mild steel lasts bout 8yrs i think.

My issue'd be that; was after 2.25" cat back, btu now not sure what to do, as will cost a bit, especially if add in a cat convertor, etc.

Got quoted $300 inc. rear muffler though, so maybe they can knock the muffler price off for me, and do it in 2.25", put provided muffler on, and maybe a cat too...
