After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. It should have a dot on the distributor gear, that lines up with something else.

However, chances are someone has half-arsed it in the past and the distributor will be out of time when you line the marks up.

Or... If the motor is at TDC, pull the distributor cap off, and turn the gear until #1 is lined up at the rotor button.

Google is your friend. I just did a quick search and it brought up a video which on my iPad was not the best in quality but it shows you in good detail how to line up the distributor mark with the marks on the other pulleys. You might have to do some cleaning and grab a whiteout pen or similar to make it easier to see.

Thsnks for all the replies, I ended up setting the timing manually by matching up all the TDC marks, used a screwdriver to test when the piston was at its highest point, lined it all up tried to start and it wouldnt, dizzy was out by one cylinder so fixed that up and its running now, still a bit rough but genuinely better than before the new belt.

        Thanks ks for the replies.
