Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • American Sunroof corporation MK3 Golf sunroof HELP BIG HOLE IN ROOF :)

    Hi there vw fans,

I am hoping someone might be able to poiunt me in the right direction to source parts for an ASC branded sunroof fitted to my MK3 golf vr6, It is part of the sliding mechanism that I need parts for and not having much luck//.

Failing this is anyone aware of what sunroofs will fit, will a MK4 version work

I have attached an exploded diagram of the original sunroof parts 1,2 and I have also attached a photo of the only identifying label I can find on the assembly.

Yeah they want $580 for a set of both sides which is a bit hard to swallow. i have seen complete MK 4 mechanisms for around $300 but cannot say for sure if they will fit.

Glass is 29.5" by 19" (approx) and the hole surround appears to be factory.

Anyone out there that may be able to confirm alternatives for this car

I've got the one from my golf I wrecked.
Had all the books and keys too.
Unfortunately it's 3 hours drive away in storage so can't confirm if it's the same brand or size

Anyway that this can be confirmed - I miss this driver. I have been away from the forums for a while and hope that something is out there>

            Cheers

I have just got hold of a sunroof golf that I am using for parts / parting out the rest....I have no idea what breed the sunroof is, and I do already have someone interested in it, but I will let you know when I definitely know some details.
