  • Strange whining and whirring sound in 2.0L

My 2.slow 2E has recently developed a strange high pitched squeaking sound on start-up which is followed by an almost supercharger like whine on acceleration. I was laughing at how ridiculous it sounded at first but then realised the financial implications... This does eventually go away after some time driving but its still quite bothersome.

The sound seems like it is coming from left of the engine where the belts are. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

    Cheers, Branko.

If it sounds as though it's coming from the belts, it could well be the belts My mate's VR6 has just given up its timing chain and needs replacing along with the belt, and you're describing the same noise only his didn't really go away

Why dont u take the auxillary belt off and start the car and see if it still makes the noise. Dont drive/run the car tho and see if it makes the noise from idle. Then u can narrow things down from there. No noise = water pump or ps pump.
