Oh man, had to come back from the dead to say how freakin' dope your car looks with the front bar like that... I always intended to do that. Maybe with the calipers you could source some vw? decals and clearcoat over em??

Believe it or not, my valves are ''sanded'' down to the point where they don't make noise while they scrape. They haven't scraped lines in the caliper paint yet but ONE SPOKE on my right wheel has....

Yep those are two jacks. No, I don't have jackstands, and yes I had to borrow the blue one off my neighbour because mine slipped in mid air and I had to get the weight off it to fix it hahah.

I wouldnt go underneath a car without stands. There was a fella on vortex who died underneath a car with only a jack supporting it....

Well guys after the cruise and some fantastic rolling shots from Ray, I thought I might post up a pic of how my VR looks now, compared to what it was on the last cruise before I had any plans for it:

That's actually the day before last year's gong cruise, to the day of this year's one. I put it down heavily to the aid of this forum's knowledge and the awesome bunch of people who gave me pointers/answered silly little questions for me along the way. Cheers guys!

what do you use to clean the calipers before you paint mickey?

Wire brush and Nulon brake cleaner; works a treat. Just spray generously on areas to be cleaned, have at it with the wire brush, and repeat once or twice for bad areas.

Unfortunately not, Trent... I just came back from Ray's equipped with solder and the iron so will have a go at it tomorrow morning or wednesday
