Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

So these just arrived! Pick them up of ebay a couple of weeks ago for a good price. Genuine BBS RS et42. All I have to do it get them to fit haha.

I'm also planning to refurb them myself + professional help. Definitely need to change the colour of the centres and I will clean and polish the bolts and lips myself.

Hell yes, gonna need some tyres that are the right size first. Not entirely sure what will work but I'm thinking 195/45/16 or 195/50/16 to get a bit of stretch?

              Small update:

Cleaned today and detailed the black plastic trims and spoiler today using the product below. $23.99 at repco. I'm really happy with the results, I'll let you guys know how long it is until I have to redo it.

Still waiting for funds for tyre for the RSs. So many dollars being spent on my brother's wedding coming up soon.

Finally, airbox mod! I was bored so gave this a shot following Breezy's DIY from vortex. Holy moley! I could not have expected the results! Took it for a spin and couldn't stop laughing, it sounds amazing! I would definitely recommend this although I am sure you have all already done it.

              That's all for now.

Airbox mod definitely is one of those things that catch you by surprise. I still can't believe my car makes the noise when I snap into 3rd gear

Did you end up going for a new head unit? If so, are you interested in selling the stock unit? Im looking to 'downgrade' from my aftermarket unit

That got out on ice when I bought the RSs and went bankrupt [emoji30]. I probably won't be selling it though when I swap it out. Want to keep it incase I want to take it back to stock, sorry.

Found out today on the way back from Maleny that my brake light are working. Tails are fine. I swapped out the fuse, but no fix. Also checked all bulbs and there doesn't seem to be any issue with them.

Any idea what could be wrong?

EDIT - just fiddled with the brake light pedal switch and the left brake light and now it works...

The trays corrode themselves, brake switch or the wiring

Turns out this problem has persisted. Had a fiddle with the brake switch this morning. It gets stuck and won't open enough to turn the lights on. Guess I'm making a trip to Jaycar this arvo.
