Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • CX Racing coilovers

Ok guys who here knows anything bout these? i need to order a set of coilovers as the ones in my car although new are terrible! Im probably going to order H&R ultralows but am open to other suggestions
i remember a few years back there being alot of hype regarding CX racing but besides this i havent been able to find much information on them....
So the question is does anyone know if they are any good or are they rubbish like alot of the other coilovers out there ?

    Buy my ultra lows.

CX are great value though, adjustable coilovers for less than 800 is unreal. Another option could be BC coil overs, pat has a set.

Are these ultralows the ones that once belonged to Louis aka soundofavr6?

Yes. He had them preloaded, maxed out and collars seized though.

I have CX racing in at the moment, 32 way dampening adjustment is one of the best things they offer. Would recommend them, pretty low and hella comfortable.

yeah same issue im having with the coils in my car, the front drivers has seized and if i push\pull any harder it feels like im going to break something. Any tips to unseize the collar? ive gotta get it sitting a little lower until i can get my hands on a new set of coils

Got any pics of your mk3 with a description of how much thread is left on the coilover?

So these were so tight I had to get a 1m stainless steel pipe on the c spanner. I also used a heat gun and wd40, heat gun worked wonders. In the end I had to take the coilover out of the car and rattle off the strut top to remove the preload from the equation. Was still ****ing tight though.
