Do you know how much this will end up costing if you don't mind me asking.

I need a new clutch soon and the gearbox is on the way out and should be done at the same time.

Hey, for a reconditioned gearbox its about $2,500 and for second hand its close to $800 and for a brand new Clutch looking around $150-$200 thats what ive been priced hope it helps

Best thing to do is find a second hand gearbox and buy one even look threw the wreckers for a mk3 golf and take the gearbox out of that. There is cheaper ways of getting your car back on the road.
