Thanks for the tip mate! Yeah I didn't disconnect the battery, probably should have! DIdn't have a torque wrench on me but made sure it wasnt too tight.
That word "interesting" has been thrown around a lot...lol
Looks like you're off to a great start on resolving some of the issues and doing it yourself.
Can't wait to see where you go with this.
Thanks mate! Yeah will be fun to have a crack at a few things. my rear window regulator is stuffed and I received a brand new one without the motor so gonna try and fit that tomorrow. Motor seems to be fine, just the reg isnt working (I suspect anyway).
I can't wait till I get this to the way I want it to as well! She is gonna be awesome
Window regs are fiddly things, they need to be aligned properly, otherwise they break after a few months/half a yr.
quality also plays a small part in this too.

Yeah I have the OEM reg so hopefully it'll last. Didnt have much time to do a DIY today but yeah, gonna try tomorrow
Got these coilovers cheap through a connection. Brand new. Will be replacing the budget coilovers I have on right now (HotTuning). Ideally i would have liked to have got the H&R ones but for now these will be better and a nicer upgrade to the current ones.
2) ECS Front and Rear suspension refresh kit
The suspension bushings etc were in desperate need of a refresh so this kit will replace the front and rear with new heavy duty items.
3) OEM Coolant Tank assembly
4) Accessory Drive Belt with Belt tensioner
More of a preventative thing. I could see the belt being worn so going to replace it with a brand new drive belt and tensioner so it eliminates any issues that may come up with this later on.
5) Integrated Engineering Billet Shifter Bushings
Shifting on the Vento is quite sloppy at the moment so hoping this will sharpen things up a bit
Decided to take off the rain tray and windshield wipers to give them a refresh. Had a can of touch up paint in Satin Black finish which was designed for repairs on pre-painted metal. Took the wiper arms off, prepped them by sanding back the existing paint with 400, 600 and then 800 grit sandpaper wetsanding, then gave it about 6-7 layers of black. It came out looking pretty much brand new.
Taking off the rain tray gives access to the cabin filter. Unlike the MK6 where the filter is below the glove box inside the car, the MK3's had it on the passenger side underneath the rain tray. Don't ask me why but it's there. This is what I was greeted to :
So much buildup of dead leaves and other crap in there. Ordered some MANN Cabin filters to replace the old one and in the correct fitment. Much better.
The wiper blades were beyond shot and it was actually pretty dangerous when driving whilst raining as it wouldn't do anything, so I ordered some Bosch Aerotwin wipers. I have Bosch units on my Golf R as well and it's a really nice blade with a clean wipe.
When I first picked the Vento up, the passenger side rear electric window wasn't working properly. I could hear the motor running but the window would not go up and down. Apparently this is a common problem on the MK3's and that it's normally the regulator which doesn't work.
Bought a brand new OEM genuine VW regulator for cheap (about 50 bucks) and did a DIY. Basically followed this DIY from VWVortex :
The regulator really is a crap design and I can see why it breaks as the clamp holding the window in place are made from plastic. They could wear overtime or break, which is what happened to mine.
Since I didn't have clamps, I used duct tape and an old T-shirt to hold the window up while I removed the old regulator.
Old regulator (motor still attached) on the left, New regulator on the right.
Fitted everything up and hey presto! It's working again!
Also got some new badges to replace the tired old worn ones...
Will also be re-furbing these BBS RS's soon. 5x100 PCD, 16x7 and 16x8 with slant lips. May also re-barrel to make them 16x8 and 16x9. Going to get the lips polished up, repaint the centres and re-furb the original BBS bolts too with the help of Ray from RAW works. Should be good!
