  • Need better light output

There's this windy road I go on with cliff edges that has no street lights. The one heading out to Diamond Creek. I think my headlights are dipped too much.
Not sure if I need better bulbs or somehow adjust my headlights, but I'm not getting enough light output.
As far as I can tell the adjustment knobs are the same as the stock headlights.
    Where should I start?
    Thanks

    HIDS.
Honestly, i have tried every phillips ultra, super, super-duper vision globe, every chinese, every "100% better light output" globes and they are all the same in one way - they suck. They add a slight tint and thats all. I put 5000K HIDS in mine (mind you needed a bit of work to the headlight unit), aimed the beam down, levelled them out and made sure they don't "blind" incoming drivers with glare. If you do it right, its the best kind of light output you could get.

Looks like I'll leave as is. Thanks for the input.

Try Osram Nightbreaker bulbs, and maybe re-adjust the aim.

Thought about new headlights rather then just replacing the bulbs?

When I switched to MK4 look Hella ones light output was better than the stock headlights, but I did that mostly for looks.

I'm in the process of willing myself to do something similar to this. I got the parts I needed from The Retrofit Source Inc

                    VWVortex.com - DIY/Watch me build: RS6 Bi-xenon 3" Projector Retrofit into Jetta E-Codes. Shiggity.

It takes a decent amount of research but the end product is great. Not many good looking aftermarket projector headlights for mk3s IMO apart from hella dual rounds, and they're pretty hard to find!

Unfortunately not so not very scientific, but I do see more when driving on the same stretch of road.
