Lost all the coolant the other day so it's at the mechanics who is telling me that it's the theromstat housing that is cracked. Thing is he replaced that (supposedly) 6 months ago but says they are a poor design and there is 6 small O-rings that are very thin. So just the smallest crack and it's gone, which is apparently what happened this time. Anyone else had anything similar happen? Thing is, I've used this mechanic a while now and would be surprised if he was trying to do the dodge on me. Cheers

How much is it costing u for a new one? Pretty soon a billet one should be made by a company in the US but expect to pay big dollars for them due to its shape and all. Its surprising tho that it cracked within 6 months, perhaps the bolts were over-torqued? From mem they were only supposed to be done up 10-15nm.

it certainly a common failure but not after 6 months. They usually last several years.

I would guess the warranty will be voided - sounds like the bolts have been overtightened for sure - Peedman u are right dude 10NM is the torque.
Overtightening is a common thing and when it gets a bit of heat premature failure is a sure thing.
