I need to find out what wire comes out of the switch to the headlights. I'm wireing in some driving lights (spot lights) and need power to the relay, from the switch.
Any help on what wire to use in the car would be great.
there is a relay under the bonnet, but the lights are only aloud to work while the high beam is on, so i have to take power from the high beams to turn the lights on.

Yeah so save on some wire length and pick up the control off the back of one of the headlights.
use the original pull out fog switch. that is your normal light switch just pull it out thats wat i did to mine, pull the unit out and find out which connection goes where

mine are sopt lights, not fogs, they can only be on when the highbeamis on.
As for using less wire, how?
instead of the wire leaving the headlight swich, into my spotlight swich, through the firewall, into a relay, to earth (All a straight line) Then from battery through relay, to light to earth,
It could be from headlight, through the fire wall, to the switch, back through the fire wall, to the realy, to earth, Then, from the battery, through the relay, to the lights, to earth.
