  • Quick Question: Re Rocker Cover Gasket Leak?

    Hi all,

Seems this leak is common on VR6. i have searched for a step by step to remove intake, rocker etc. some say its a huge job (ie removal of the whole front of the car) others say it takes 30 mins.

    im confused

has anyone done this? As i want to fix this minor leak. On inspection it doesnt look that difficult to get to but im a little timid as i dont want to bight off more than i can chew.

    many thanks

At a guess some will be saying front off due to the intake manifold bolts?

you have to ease the front out a bit to get to the intake manifold bolts. Yoy really don't need to take the entire thing off.

Just have a look around and you'll get an idea of what to do, some good DIYs on vortex.

Took me about 3 hours from memory but that included doing some other jobs here and there.

Cool ok. If could achieve a result in 3 hours id be happy for sure.

I've done them without pulling the front off. That whole process is an absolute last resort.

If you've got a nice variety of tools, it should come apart pretty easy. I've done much harder rocker cover gaskets in my time.

As above, mani should be easy enough with the front on with the right tools
