  • My Golf VR6

Hey guys, thought it be a good idea to join a VW forum to get the best knowledge from others about my MK3 Golf VR6. Anyways i bought 1996 Golf VR6 last weekend from a couple who were looking to upgrade to a bigger car. The car currently has 130,914 kilometers on it and has a full service history. Anyways here are some pictures of the car. Enjoy

Bit of wear and tear on the seats...but what do you expect from an 18 year old car right?

I really want to remove those wheel arches but i dont know whats under them to be honest. Im scared that ill take them off and find rust or paint that has peeled off. So im going to playing it safe for now and just leaving them on. I really want to get some new wheels for the VR6 but im not really good with wheel specs and all that stuff, so i guess ill have to read up on that. Anyways feel free to leave any comments or if you want any more pictures just ask. Thanks and sorry for the side way shots.

Mmmm vr6 goodness! Dont bail on the arches man, they look awesome on the black top bumper cars and give it that meaner look in my opinion

Love the colour and the leather.

Give that steering wheel a good clean and condition, maybe even try and get it resto'd before it peels right through the leather covering and looks like crap. Rarely are they in good condition like yours!

Hey, thanks for the advice mate. Tomorrow i will give the steering wheel a good clean and hopefully take some photos. I hope the wheel arches grow on me, maybe i just need to buy some bigger wheels, maybe 16 or 17 inch? I would love a pair of BBS CH on my golf or even BBS RS painted gold because i know that would look great with the purple colour of the car. Anyways cheers.

Gold RS would look wicked with the purple paint. I saw this car on carsales.com.au and thought it looked like a good buy. Nice one mate look forward to see where you go with it

          Leather seats, nice!
I was thinking about removing the wheel arches too but decided just restoring the black plastic would be a better option. Plus you have the added feature of protecting the rest of the paint if someone accidentally side swipes you, they'll just damage the plastic and not your paint (or at least I hope that's what would happen). I too don't want to find rust or similar.

As Alfred said about the wheels I too think they'd be a killer colour combo with the purple paint.

Great to have another VR6 around.

I would love some BBS RS but they cost so much I would love to get Ford Crown Vic rims which look like BBS and use them but i dont know to be honest and yeah it was up there on Carsales for a while but no one offered him cash. A lot of people wanted to trade cars. the car was advertised for $6,500, but got it down to $5000 which is a pretty good buy.

Buying new ones isn't worth it in my opinion, too expensive.

Nice car bud, I love the purple on these, you could get BBS reps (make sure they arnt el cheapos though)

Ive parted stuff on my car, have a 3.5 cabby steering wheel if your keen

and another recommendation could be to use black VHT vinyl paint

                          That's a bit harsh.

Not overly. I'm not nearly opposed as much towards reps as a lot of people on here. But when people come in and say genuine wheels are to expensive annoy me. Genuine wheels cost $5-600, re-furb them for the same, then bam genuine wheels for same or less.

I can't really be a judge of it as I can afford either at the moment haha. I just thought the way you said it might have offended this new member. Anyway we should probably not clog up his thread with an argument.
