    I drive an auto (long story) and sometimes the clutch will engage/disengage in a weird way. It will give a jolt sometimes, usually after a small delay it will engage like this. I assume it's because the engine is revved and not idle and so when it engages it gives a jolt.
    The other thing is it will disengage while breaking, but not always, it seems random.

    Anyway, just wondering if it's an issue or if it's a sign of a problem (or others)? or if it's just a trait of the auto.

      No clutch in an auto.

      Sounds like the transmission is about to die.

        ok, wasn't sure what it was called. Be gentle with it then? How long do they usually last?

          I know in the mk4 tranny there are lugs/plugs or some **** that wear out and cause the tranny to slip like
          a bitch. My GFs does it, it's annoying but not fatal and costs a ****load to get em changed

            I always thought an auto had a clutch except it did the switching itself rather than the driver doing it.

              A normal auto box has what is called a 'torque converter'. Only in recent times have dual clutch auto boxes like the DSG been used in production cars.
