  • Central locking problem

As of a few months ago, I have been having a very annoying central locking problem. When ever I unlock and lock the doors, I get a whiring noise coming from the rear and what appears (and sounds like) air leaking from the front passengers side door. It takes about 20-30 seconds sometimes till it goes away and is all quiet again. I had a quick look under the plastic part that runs the length of the car covering over the wiring and blue tube on the passengers side, thinking there mite be a leak in the tube causing this noise, but cant seem to see anything unusual

Has anyone else had this same problem or something similar and how have you fixed it? I wanna try and get it done myself before it goes in for a service as I wanna save myself as much as possible

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The central locking operates by Vacuum and what you are hearing is the pump running.

There are vac pipes running to each lock and it would appear that you have a leak somewhere, It is probably just a pipe that has come adrift and should be easy to find. They run along the sills and up the A and B pillars.

Couple of things it could be there and a good way is disconnecting the pipes seperatley and blanking them off till you find the fault. My money would be on a burst diaphragm in one of the doors or petrol flap diaphragm.

U can use a condom to repair the petrol flap diaphragm. I used one in my Polo, but it was my last one. My daughter is 8 days old today..mmm.
