  • Windscreen seal bit, where to get replaced?

I've tried the search but couldn't find anything.
It's not the actual windscreen seal, that's fine. It's the seal on the outside that looks like it prevents water getting into the part between the engine bay and interior.
I'm not very good with cars so I'd prefer it to get it fixed somewhere. The only thing I've found is that you might be able to get some grooved rubber from ClarkRubber but with lack of pictures I'm unsure.
    Anyone replaced it before?

would love to see pictures of the "Clark rubber fix" myself, what it looks like finished & what the cross-section of the rubber looks like.

They sell a profile of rubber that will push onto the rain tray cover and then seal up against the windscreen, Just need to buy 2m of the stuff and cut it to size. Pretty simple and easy to do

                Thank you!
I'll go to Clark Rubber and see if I can get that. The rubber on mine is literally flaking off and I can just use my fingers to break it away.
I knew this would have to be something that I'd need to fix and with all this rain I'm going to fix it sooner rather than later.

Just so you know, it doesnt really stop the rain going into the plenum chamber. Its more for the looks. The rain tray that covers the ECU and air cabin filter is set up to channel the water to the edge and away from these parts (pull it out, you'll see what I mean). And the one above the windscreen wipes does next to nothing to stop the water... you cant get a proper seal without spending 300+ on a full set of new trays and the seal etc. In saying that, I've never had an issue with my setup and plenty of mk3s dont have a good seal so cant imagine it being and issue and the clark rubber mod is cheap and looks good

From what I saw there's a two-part tray, when I popped the bonnet. That seems to be fine.
I haven't had any water go in the foot wells, but when I went to pick it up I remember the passenger side being damp (or was it my imagination?).
If it's 'just a looks thing' then does it matter? Could I just clean away all the old rubber and make it look good? I wasn't concerned about looks, I just wanted to make sure it was ok.

Just pull them out and clean out all the crap and make sure the seals at the bottom of the cabin filter holder are clean. Oftern the build of of crap and age of the cars means the water can leak in even if its directed away from the top of the filter.

It never looks good when you cut all the rubber away. Id pay the 5 or 6 bucks and make it look nice and neat but then again, thats just me

This is the part I bought today. Only thing they had in the shop. Looks a bit thicker than mb1907953's post.
Edit: I bought 2 metres, that's just a sample they gave me to check.

Part is: 500 (internal store number?) Weather Strip WSP13/26 fetched me $14.95 a metre.
The U area is where the glass sits in between right? And the lip goes over the plastic as seen in the photo below?

Peeled a bit of the existing rubber off, yep, there's crap there. I assume I just need to unscrew the + circles to get to that area and I'll be good to clean it out?

I was removing the two plastic trays today so that I can clean out the area and put the new rubber in when I came across this.

Doesn't look good. Anyone know what's it for? Looks be just a seal that needs replacing. There's quite a force pulling it away.
