  • black box under back seat

Hi, I'm new to this and have just bought a 97 golf. Great little car. Several problems which I'm hoping someone can help.

    1. Missing outside side trim - where can I buy?
    2. Cruise Control doesn't work. Have tried fiddling with the stork switches and the brake switch and they seem ok. I don't think there is voltage getting to the ECU as I don't hear a click from the relay. Die sanyone have a schematic or wiring diagram for the cruise?
    3. Car comes with 14" wheels. Would 15" or 16" effect handling and insurance.
    4. There a black box under the back passanger seat. Anyone know what it is?Is it the EMU?

Anyone have photos of their car so I can see what bigger wheels etc would look like?

    Regards.

    Manuel

Black box could also be the controller for the auto.

Which exterior trim do you need??

Thanks. However I don't think it has ABS. The only light that goes on when you turn on the ignition is the Airbags.

The trim I need is outer plastic strip on the trim that goes from between the front and rear wheel on the left hand side of the car. Could it be an aftermarket body kit?

Mate dont know where you pulled that one from Its not just Vrs that have ABS - from top of my head Aus delivered - AAZ,ADZ and AEY all have optioned ABS VR was standard. As of 01.93 the Abs control unit is located under the right rear seat bench.

It's actually the seatbelt fluid reservoir - Make sure its got plenty of hydraulic oil in it !!

No worries didnt mean to be hasty, the models i listed did in fact come optioned and as you did mention the VRs do come standard mate. If the said vehicvle has ABS and if the box is under the right rear seat then its the Abs controller- HEHEHE it is funny how everyone reacts. Has anyone mentioned the flux capacitor ( might as well take the light hearted approach , i cant beat yas so ill join yas!!!!) I agree with the seat belt hydraulics when the fluid gets low there the belts retract too fast, could pose a problem , could also be an auxillary air bag o2 housing, which house spare air when the airbag deflates over time - after all it is a mark 3 i would say the air would be getting a bit low!!

All I need now it to sort vout the cruise.

Not necessarily it was an option, as was aircon. I have a GL that has ABS, and I know it's kicked in a few times
