    Hi Guys,

Lurked for a while and not really posted but was hoping someone could give me a heads up what might be wrong with my brothers VR6 I am looking after while he is overseas, again.

Drove around the corner to grab some groceries and when I jumped back in car its making a weird ticking noise. Only thing I can compare it to is when I had a Subaru Liberty RS and you would occasionally get the Tappet ticking or lifter noise. The sound increases in tempo when I accelerate too but does not affect any power with the car.

Will try and record a sound but phone is very bad for recording.

Is there a recommend mechanic around Greenslopes QLD that I could take it to?

Just wondering if its something I should be worried about or a known issue?
I was hoping to drive a good 500km round trip on the weekend and this is going to point a dampner on things.

While I am asking for some help, anyone recommend some replacement struts/springs, the current ones are getting quite bad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

don't think driving it would be a good idea, could definitely be oil related.... if it had been sitting for a while then i'd say drive it out but not if it's regularly used.....

So brother forgot to mention before he left that he had an oil leak repaired on the car.

The crack is apparently down on the sump about 3-5mm away from the oil drain plug and they did what they could to plug it but were not sure how it would go.

So I checked the oil, it was very low. Filled it up again but didn't drive it around, just let it idle after putting the oil in. Checked the oil again after 3 days and majority of it was gone.

Any idea what sort of cost I am looking at to get this repaired? Is it worth getting repaired?

Edit: Sorry for late reply, been away for work.
