  • Golf VR6 - Removing radiator for replacement

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if you are able to swap out a radiator on a VR6 without having to tke the front end off?
If so, some steps on how to do so would be much appreciated!

    Cheers.

The front end comes off with like 3 bolts, may aswell just pull it off, would certainly make it much easier if it even is possible to do with it on

Yeah true, ive pulled it off before.. its just going throug the process of all the ther little bits like lights, hood latch, etc..If i can leave them intact and just disconnect wiring...bonus. I got a new all aluminium radiator that i need ot install.. Will keep you posted on what my thoughts are on its performance and cooling. Supposidly cools 35%-40% more effeciently so fingers x.
My little baby doesnt like summer. Once this is done, ive replaced the entire cooling system including silicone hoses, rings, thermo, thermo housing, yadda yadda....

The rad support doesn't need come off, just the bumper bar. The rad can be squeezed out from behind the condenser. Just be careful not to flex to much on the condenser.
