  • Electrics not working??

Over the last few days, especially during the hotter periods through out the day, my vr6's power windows and mirrors stop working completely. Then magically come back to life hours later.

Now i couldn't find the fuse that controlled the above so it can be replaced, however I'm hoping someone here can help please.

Hi mate you have a thermo fuse that sits above the fuse box, its a little can type looking thing mate, if this is on the way out it will be warmer than usual during operation and a hot day will just tip it over the edge. My money is on that mate. Cant miss it look at your fuse box head on and should sit remotely above the box. Pm Loon mate he will have some of them

Mate just quickly its not a relay but a thermo fuse with 2 red or red/yellow wires coming out the back. Above the fuse box from memory on the right just a bit bigger than a fuse.
        Cheers

Just one other thing are you only using the drivers window when all fails????? Could be a high resistance fault with motor too. Heat increases resistance , as they are all linked it could be another thing to look at. When all is working dont use the drivers window when hot and see if anything else works, if you know what i mean. This way it rules the thermo fuse out. If it any other fail then i would be right onto the thermofuse, no harm changing it anyway as itll be over 10 yrs old mate.

            Cheers

After starting the car on a hot day, all the windows and mirrors don't work. However all other electrics work just fine.

They evenually begin to work when the weather cools down later in the evening.

Mate i will send that fuse but the only thing is the mirror dont go through this fuse, fuse 14 which is fed from the ign switch is live with the ign on. The ign switch can be playing havoc mate.

Had a chat with a vw mechanic and he said it might be the 'comfort relay'

He said might need a rebuild or replacing $$

Mate ive been around these too long and never heard of a Comfort relay?????? im looking at the diagram now and there is none - Mirrors and windows are all fed from fuse 14 have you checked if it has power when ign on???????? this is fed from the ign switch mate, if you have no windows check fuse 14 ign feeds the mirrors and the windows that is the staring block mate

Jimmy I'm not doubting you mate, just passing on what I've been told.

I assume your referring to fuse 14 as per the diagram below?

And fyi it has no power when ign is on.
