  • Are spacers required? Whats reco tyre size?

Hi all, looking at a set of rims for my 94 VR6. They are 17x7.5 with an et of 32. If my calculations are correct, they should go straight on and I dont think spacers would be needed but can anyone advise for sure?
Also, what is a reco tyre size? im thinking either a 205.40 or a 215.40. Id prefer a 215 as I want as much rubber underneath as possibele. You think a 225 would be pushing it?
    Advice appreciated. cheers all....

If you would need spacers comes down to rim design, some needs to be spaced out to clear the brakes, some don't.

Would go for the 205/40 just to give that lil bit more clearance to go a bit lower and also avoid/lessen rubbing issues.

    Cheers

Pretty sure they'll go straight on with no problems.

Tyre size. Depending how low you are and how close the wheel is to suspension / guard you can determine how wide you can put on it.

                    not mine sorry.
think it had 205/45 on it at one point (too big in diameter) and 205/40s (much more suited to mk3 factory rolling diamters)
not sure which this photo is on

I would say 205/40 is what is on in the pic. Like Dylan said also, that'll get pretty much factory rolling diameter.

cool. from what i can see in various pics, net searches etc.. some are running 215/40 and most 205/40. Ideally id like as much rubber as possible under the guards without fouling. I take it no scrubbing issues on strut or guards with the 205's?

Thought id post a pic of them fitted. Needed to go a 205/40/17. Funnly enough, actually more comfortable than running the standard 15s. go figure???

                            can be the case.
old tyres, over inflated, or just tyres with stiffer side walls
