There are restrictions on the types of gas you can carry though.
Aerosols are OK but for OHS service companies may carry them in an esky.
LPG cylinders for portable BBQs up to 9kg are OK.
LPG Cylinders that are mounted in the car/caravan have to be in an approved "cupboard" that is sealed from the inside of the vehicle and vented to atmosphere.
LPG Cylinders that are part of the car's fuel system are obviously OK,subject to routine inspection and testing. A sticker must be placed on the numberplate to warn emergency services.
Flammable gasses such as Acetylene cannot be carried inside a vehicle.
A fire extinguisher is definitely allowed!
