  • Golf mk4 gear knob & gaiter on Mk3

Can anyone tell me if the Mk4 gear knob and gaiter will fit on a mk3.... My shifter boot and gear knob need replacing... If not, anyone got any other suggestions for a replacement, or happy to share what they have done.

    thanks
    Dan

I have an aftermarket wolfsburg gearknob

Then I trimmed the knob off old one and re-used the original gaiter. i folded the top bit in and under the gaiter ad its held in with a bit of elastic.

Looks quite neat. I think a lot of the aftermarket gaiters just look weird.

Yep it will fit but you have to cut the shaft down a inch to get it to fit!

Where can you get a MK4 gearknob from locally other than VW direct?

Ask Mk4 owners who've upgraded theirs

I bought a leather gaiter from Ebay, the guy regularly sells em on there and the fit and quality is great. At only $30 for good quality leather I reckon it was a bargain.

This is a good topic as my poor gear knob is very worn..me wants a nice one. Any good sites or places for a nice selection anyone?

I really like the Momo Anatomical ones. I bought a boot from eBay too (MRGAITER) and it fits OK. I bought the handbrake boot too but that was designed for the American middle console so it's a bit short on ours.

I have this knob; Isotta Viper Leather

It fit up really easily and nicely, the fitting kit it came with was top notch

I bought the knob and gaiter seperately, I think Momo may make gaiters as well not sure?

ok guys so the standard mk4 golf knob and boot fits the mk3. but what about the mk4 R line knob.
I know its hell expensive for a gear knob but **** it would look sweet in the VR6
