  • Urgent help with coilovers

Guys, I'm in the midst of installing my coilovers and this keeps happening when we lower the car back to the ground. Note, that I've left 35mm of thread at the bottom of the coilover under the spring

Yeah, that's pretty normal when the top bushes are worn. When you jack it back up again, they go clunk and drop down onto the big retaining washer on the top, right?

Were they from the old struts?

Yeah they're from the old struts because I didn't think to get new ones. Is this a problem though? Like is the car drive able?

        Yeah, the car's driveable.

You might experience some thumping over bumps though.

          Ok

My uncle suggested we reverse the bushing because when reversed it doesn't pop out... Would that be okay?

Mine did the same thing, I didn't replace the top mounts, I have covered 5k km on mine and not had a problem, probably should replace them but it seems fine and I use mine as a daily!

It might work, but I wouldn't be seeing it as a long-term solution.

Oh definitely not a long term solution - ordering new bushings now

Made it home safely after installing the coils. I've got no gap between the wheel and arch at the front and about a 20mm gap at the rear - car started to hump about 3/4 of the way through the trip and it was sounding bad.

Will have to install the new bushes by Saturday because of reasons >.>

Also, can anyone recommend a set of front mount bushing kits? just need a bearing, the rubber mount and the bit that sits in the engine bay (whatever it's called).

                  Cheers.
