Though there are a few people starting to get the balls to do newer things and 9" on the front is completely possible. However if you have to run et15 and less it will start to be poking crazy. Nothing a guard roller and camber can't fix though.

Too many variables to give a yes or no to your question. Things like spoke design will affect brake clearance. Offset / camber will affect strut clearance. You're going to want a roll and probably pull on the front guards.
Do some googling. Have a look on vortex for wheel specs (there's a whole thread) also remember vr6 wide track on the front.
With those specs you could make them work although you'd have to use spacers / adapters to get them too the right offset. Will also require some tyre stretch. Maybe a 215/40 or so.
Having said that. They're a VERY aggressive fitment. You'll have to run stretched tyres for clearance, as well as gaurd rolling. They have the potential to look very bad if you're not low enough. It's a bit hard to pull of WIDE 17's, but this is also affected by the 'style' of your car. Depending on your coilovers, you may need to be a bit creative with camber, tyre size, spacers etc, to make sure they dont rub on the spring/shock. Hopefully they have adequate brake clearance, otherwisxe that could put you in a bit of difficulty.

Sweet. Im not running coilovers unfrotunately. I m running a set of bilstein sports shocks with Eibach Type 8530 lowered spports springs.
Even if I could play with spacers to move wheels out, im running a 94 Vr6 which has the plastic wheel arches so a guard roll is out of the question unless I remove them.
Pitty as well as they are a set of Volk racing 3 piece polished wheels, deep dish. would look ultra aggressive.. I dont push car to hard unless on highway so dont mind low profile tyres as im just cruising to work and back during day...
hmmmm....
I wouldn't bother with 17x9's if you're only on a spring/shock combo, and not willing to roll the arches. With 17x9's, you NEED to have the arches rolled. If the car isn't low enough, sure the arches wouldn't need to be rolled, but then, it would just look rubbish imo.
You can roll arches and keep plastic trims.
Like I said before, this is a very aggressive fitment, and they're the hardest to pull off. Frankly, if you're not on coilovers (or willing to chop springs, which I don't recommend) to tailor the ride height to get it 'just so', and not willing to roll arches, then I don't think this is the set of wheels for you!
