What are your thoughts on this?

92 98 Volkswagen Golf GTI MK3 3 5" TIP Muffler Catback CAT Back Exhaust System | eBay

Got a hole in my exhaust and it's in too awkward of a spot to weld so tossing up whether to buy this (bit worried about the price though; does this seem right for a stainless steel system?) or to just take it to a muffler shop..

I'd be suspicious at that price.
For comparison, a known/decent brand (Jetex) system set me back $600 (2inch SS)

agree with you there about the pricing Ryan. Very hard to tell just from a picture.
If you still want to get a system from O/S Harry, suggest you also check out the Magnaflow website in the US for a price comparison.
Locally I got a quote of $300 for what is in the picture in stainless.

Magnaflow are awesome but very expensive, I got one from the US for just over $1k a few years ago. Didn't end up liking it very much in the end and changed it for a remus setup.

That ebay link is silly cheap. I'd avoid it.
