couple of odd probs

Hi there..
The other day wife was driving our mk3 vr6 and she said a warning light came on. .it was a triangle with am exclamation mark...it hasn't come on when ive been driving...what does it mean?

The other problem is the aux water pump keeps running too long and my battery keeps going flat...ive disconnected the plug to it now and it doesn't go flat anymore...
Any ideas where to start looking. .

The aux water pump is powered up by the fan control module under the water reservoir bottle. They get wet and die and so get changed. However, there are several different ones which send power to the fans and aux water pump in different ways. Maybe someone has put the wrong one in your car. Take it out, 10 mm bolts under water bottle and read the number off the side.
