  • My '98 4Dr CL

So little over a week ago I picked up my first golf, a '98 4 door CL. 97600 KMS, and Stamped log book servicing up to date.

It has a little dent/scrape on the front right and a little paint damage on the bumper, but nothing to hard to fix.

So far the car is stock except for my Sony head unit.

I plan on having this as my daily, but want it slammed. Have been looking for a set of coilovers, so far i think i've decided to go with CXRacing coils. As i'm not really made of money And read some good reviews. Can't really afford to wait any longer to buy a $1600 set of Coils, as the front struts are starting to weep, and strut mounts are torn, i'd like to replace ASAP.
I absoulutely love the look of Borbet A's, but are really too epxensive, might buy some Reps sometime if they ever popup for sale second hand!

Hopefully one day Thule roof racks, and a Vento front end will happen too One day. haha

Otherwise i really like widened steelies, if anyone knows where i can get a set in NSW? That'd be great

I'm open to any mods/DIYs any of you have to suggest, i love working on my car whenever i can.

Otherwise i'll keep this thread posted on what I get up to/plan on doing.

Love the colour, a good cut and polish should bring the colour out nicely.

Thanks guys, well next week i'll either have JUST enough for Coils + Mounts or Wheels. Can't get both as of yet I think i'll go coils, as sitting low on stocks is better than sitting stock on wheels IMO.

Thanks Smeeeb, plan on giving it a good cut and polish when i've got some spare time, that's for sure.

Is there anywhere Newcastle/Sydney that can widened by stockies? Is that possible.. thought i read it was, could be dreaming. haha

Nice mate, same as my daily, same colour the lot. Nice and cheap to run, ill be running mines till my vr is finished as ill have fat chance getting my 4mo passat back, wife is never out of it lol. Having said that im having so much fun driving this little go cart to work. Its a great solid colour mate and will come up like glass if you treat it to a polish. You have so much scope to do lots of cool mods and still haver great economy.
            Enjoy, thanks for sharing

So just a little update today guys. I installed my CXRacing coilovers (biggest mod/installation i've ever done), and i'm really happy with them. Still undecided if rear needs lower or if i should raise the front though haha. But i love where the front sits. Maybe some wheels a bit bigger than 14" stockies would do

Please excuse crappy iPhone pics! My girlfriend lost the cord from her camera so i can't upload any of those pics just yet.

                  Before:

                  After:

Only 2 semi decent photos on my phone

I also bought a plug for my broken rear wiper, but am yet to figure out how the whole wiper deal comes out haha

(and yes i have a Sonic shirt hanging in my garage)

I think my next step is another Bonnet and either side front quater panel to mess around with some new looks.
Also still after a set of 15" widened steelies
aaaaaand, some Thule #404 roof racks!

If anyone knows anywhere/anyone Sydney/Newcastle region that i could get any of that, that'd be great thanks guys.
