Yeah asked around and got someone to check, mine is def aftermarket. All good though because I'll be removing it when I get the car serviced this weekend and installing a wing mount one off eBay.

So with Triple J announcing the line up of Splendour in the Grass this morning, and me fangirling over the bands that are going to be there, I have come to the decision of turning this "little mk3 project" into a massive ordeal before Splendour.

Thank god I have a few days off Tafe during the week to work (including Saturdays) because for the things I want done, and the amount they cost, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be well under my budget before the festival, but first, this has to be done before I make the trip to Byron Bay:

Order and fit wheels/suspension/tyres (I've decided which wheels I want!)
        Roll fenders
Reupholster headlining (and possibly whole interior)
Paint various plastic bits on car
        fit "new" antenna + stubby
        fog lights + rear lights
potential clear coat of whole car
        new stereo + speakers
        VR6 Lip

Now, you're all probably thinking, "oh, you could have this done in a month". Well, as mentioned above, I'm at tafe 3 days a week, my job only pays me fortnightly and although it is a fair amount per fortnight, some things will take a bit longer to install/purchase/ship than others :S

I've set myself until July 23rd - lets see if I can do this!

when you say foglights, do you mean front or rear? And if front, how are you planning to do them?

Front foglights. Well, the wiring is there (I think; there is wiring hanging out my bumper near the lights on both sides) and I want clear indicators from the UK and the ones I'm looking at getting have: indicator, dummy and foglight. It'll work?

Ahhh ok I'll probably be going the OEM cloudy style. Mmm I think its there but you need to get the little harness that plugs into the big ass barrel connection above the radiator and a new UK headlight switch with the second foglight option.

Thought I'd need a harness; always seem to need one.

                New switch for console?
I know I've got OFF, DRL and Normal Beam plus I can pull the plug out for Fogs on the switch (nothing happens because of a lack of fogs), but are you talking about rewiring the DRL's and Fogs so the fogs come on with the DRL's and not the normal beam?

Nah, like you I thought my switch was geared up for the front fogs as well but turns out it is for rear fogs only. Apparently you need to get a switch with a second 'pull out' if that makes sense. Looks like this:

See how its got two fog symbols on the bottom left there? Same as my Dads mk5 so it makes sense...

Yeah, all makes sense now. Euro switch is a must then!

Wiring shouldn't be too hard either - my uncle knows quite a bit.

Took the car to get a wheel alignment this morning. It had positive camber on the front passenger side but they said that in order to fix the problem completely, would be to buy new shocks and springs but that's all good because I shall be getting coils and wheels soon anyway.

Now, despite all my calculation efforts, I won't be able to make Splendour

Had George at Ultratune check the car out (such a top bloke - Cheers Dom for recommending) and considering the age, it needs the usual things done; Timing belt & oil filter needs changing. Also rectified the issue with the "rattle" in the exhaust. It turns out the whole system (from the cat) has just disintegrated and I've pretty much got no exhaust haha. Thankfully all the gearbox needs is an alignment from underneath, hence why it's not centring - a bush or spring replacement would have been way too costly at this time and I'm just glad it doesn't need it!

After all this gets done, that's when the fun begins

Went to get something out of the car this morning, and the drivers side door barrel has unhooked from the mechanism can still unlock/lock from the passengers side as central locking is still working... Fun times.
