  • ebay coilovers whats the ride like?

i was just wondering how they feel compared to stock.

would there be any improvement in ride quality as apposed to old and blown shocks.

    and im not talking dumped.

whats it like at say 40mm or 50mm drop

just the cheap blue generic coilovers that are all over ebay.

You get what you pay for !!

I think I mentioned it before in your thread, but I highly recommend KW V1's.
Oh and in saying you get what you pay for, no coilover will be anywhere close to the feel (I should say comfort) of a shock & spring system !
If your not a young lad like most of us, then your also probably not into the down low stance out stuff. If this is the case and u don't plan on fitting wide azz wheels, its probably best if you get a spring shock combo !

      Yes.

New stock suspension will obviously provide the best ride quality.

You could get a 60/40 spring kit, if you're not fussed with lowering it too much, and just want to 'improve' the handling.

It's generally regarded that the cheapy ebay coilovers aren't too bad.

      i like volkswagens

            Reason for coilover ? getting lower/ handling/ both ?

If you want more handling have you considered sway bars, it would be cheaper with light and day difference to handling.
Otherwise, consider second hand coilovers ?? : p

i wouldnt know about cheaper. whiteline dont make the model specific to VRs anymore and the neuspeed (and others) items are close to $500 as they usually do front and rears.

and with coils under $350, youd be better off buying brand new.

but if anyone wants to sell their aftermarket rear swaybar, let me know

Wow ebay coilovers 350 ? I would question the reliability. V1 are great coilovers and I would highly recommend it that being ~1500, in comparison to swaybars, that is 1/3 of the price.

Steering back onto topic, I suppose it would give everything you want. Lower and handling but your dear life depends on it. Is it worth to save the few hundred ?

Reliability is not really an issue.

Ride comfort and performance on the other.. Cheap ones are to soft in the rear.

1500? I bought V1's from the UK for my polo, more like 900

i reckon at least half of the lower mk3s here are getting round on sub $500 coils (joms, racelands, hottunings, fks, etc) and have no issues. ive had mine on the car for probably the better part of 5 years. I think my rear left is on the way out, and ill prolly replace them with something similar.

obviously the lower you go, the softer they get in the rear (though youd have to be baller low or have a 200kg system in the boot to be concerned), and theyre more of a cosmetic mod than performance (though compared to stock theyre like night and day)

most coilovers are sold as being suitable for all mk3 golfs,

wouldn't the weight of the vr6 compromise this?
