1995 and below, OBD1.
1996 and later, OBD2.
If I am wrong then happy to be corrected but that's what I've always thought.

If you're going to get a chip, will be interesting to see what kind of effect it will have on economy.
Post results if you can.

Our "obd2" ecu is only shared with the UK, US chips wont work. It still needs to be soldered, we don't get the chip socket.
I got a chip from OBD2 VR6 Performance Chip - Stage 2 - Dubforce Tuning

Did a trip to the city and back the other day.
(night so not much traffic).
Averaged 8.6L/100km according to MFA.

Drove down to Torquay today. Averaged 7.6L/100km (MFA) today. Good surf. Good times.

Fuel stats for this year so far.
Average is 11.57L/100km.
Most of my trips are about 10 minute drives with about two 30 minute drives a week, sometimes I go on the freeway 40 minutes.
I think on during the beginning of the year I did a lot of freeway driving because it was the holidays.
