    Hey guys,

This is the tale of a project VR6 racecar, starring Zale and myself.
A lot of you guys probably know Zalemate from this section and myself from the MKIV section, so I'll skip the introduction.

Our story begins with my brother Tom buying a MK3 VR6. Unfortunately, debt got the better of him, so he was forced to sell the VR6 and the new owner decided to strip it for some quick cash.
This is how it sits now:

Now, Zale is a big fan of MK3's. He had a very tidy example of one until vandals decided to throw bricks at it, smashing windows and denting panels. Not one to be disheartened, Zale fixed the white beast (funnily enough using panels from our now project racecar.) After a while, Zale got the urge to sell it, to fund a vento project, so he stripped his worked engine, and we fitted the heart out of the grey vr6. Things were all going to plan, until some idiot decided to run up the back of Zale's car, writing it off. For many moons both car's sat, untouched, unloved.

Now I hated seeing two good cars go to waste and I needed to get my hands dirty while my Bora was getting turboed. I put it to Zale that we build a race car. Using parts from both cars, surely we would have enough parts to build a full car. Zale took quickly to this idea and we started planning.

The grey VR6's motor will be fitted once more to its original body. We will be focusing on weight reduction and suspension set up. The engine will remain relatively stock for the time being.

We took a quick trip to Sydney yesterday (read 5 hours there and back) and picked up some things from Seb at Euro Automotive. 24mm H&R Front swaybar, Raceland Coilovers and a suspension refresh kit.

While I was eating my toast just then I had a few ideas.
          - Delete AC
          - Keep heater as its an extra radiator and good demister
          - Keep it NA and work on good set-up and driver.
          - Good brakes
          - Lighten flywheel, good clutch, reduce final drive.
          - Race seat, harness and steering wheel.

Would May be too much of a rush for the VW natioinals!

            We are planning on Nationals
Yeh agree with everything except eater delete. Surely the weight reduction will offset any disadvantage.
Will also be doing power steering delete

I've been making a SRI for obd1. Should run that on this.

                        Haha thanks guys.

Zale and myself stripped most of the white car today.
So if you are after some parts, let Zale or myself know.
Zale should be putting a For Sale thread up soon.

We have decided to use the 28mm sway rear sway bar and slotted brakes out of the white car.

                        So, car will have:
                        Stock 12v 2.8 VR6 (for now)
                        24mm Front Sway Bar
                        28mm Rear Sway Bar
                        Raceland coilovers
                        Suspension Refresh Kit
288mm slotted and vented front brakes
230mm slotted and vented rear brakes
                        Racing pads and fluid
3.0" exhaust with centre resonator only (or 2.5", not sure which is suitable)
Full stripped, aiming for 1000kg or under. Zale is planning on eating some salad (f*cking fat c*nt)
                        Remove power steering, air-conditioning, heater
                        New steering wheel
                        Racing seat and harness
                        Stock Bora wheels 16x6.5
                        Not sure on engine mounts

                          Hey all,

Also to add to that list will probably be an alloy radiator off an sr20 or something along those lines, as they are about half the weight of a vr6 radiator.

Now now Simon... Just because i havnt been to the gym for 3 days a week for the last few years doesnt mean im a fat c*%t

                          We will be doing this whole build as a DIY and cheap racecar so a few little things to add to the list will be;

DIY port and polish stock exhaust manifold and downpipe. (got a few spare ones here)
DIY port and polish stock head intake and whatnot and maybe find some cheap 268 cams or something similar (mk3pete im looking at you got anything? )
We have 2 spare heads here one is F*cked so we will use that as a practice and the other is in good nic with 130,000 kms on it
When we do all this we will also give the engine a bit of a freshen up with new HG chains and all sorts but all on a budget ( get my step dad to help us out so its all done properly! ahh the benefits of having a family member with 30+ years of mechanicing experience )

While this project is happening the parts that we arnt using in the racecar ill be using in the vento which for now will just stay 2L and just be a nice comfortable daily with lows on a set of wheels ive had for a while. This may or may not be ready for nats but we are aiming on getting the racecar done or atleast it will be there whether its finished or not. (it will never be finished, ready is probably a better more fitting word )

Anyway guys keep tuned and we will be updating regularly even if its only small updates

Should be able to get close to a tonne; with nothing left inside. May need some carbon panels - if you ever go this far let me know I want some but shipping is $600 a panel.

I have autotech 262's and lifter's brand new, if you can't get 268's.

Meh, not spending money on carbon fibre at this stage.
How much for 262 and/ or lifters?
