Basically, was a great meet, approx 1200 cars there, and everyone was very well behaved.

Mass amounts of police set up multiple defect stations at every possible exit, and filled the side streets in the area with more police bikes and cars to get people who weren't stopped at the main defect stations. When talked to by people from Grunt files/AMEP/Organizers of downshift they openly admitted they were there to target enthusiasts, one quote being "If you want lollies, you go to the candy shop".

A lot of fines were handed out, mine was for tint, which they did with un calibrated equipment in inappropriate light. I think my tint is legal, but not worth taking time off work to fight it. I got off very lightly compared to some, if I'd been pulled into the main defect station I would have been absolutely raped.

Interestingly, a young child went missing from a car in the area after his parents were fighting, and even though there were a good 40+ police there none of them would help to search, prioritizing fining us. It took two hours for other police from the city to come out and help with that much more serious matter, and downshift organizers actually found him in the end.

Was pretty pathetic on behalf of whoever was in charge of the operation, and this kind of unfair targeting needs to stop, which is why I will be voting for the AMEP this election, and would strongly suggest everyone into cars does too.

All that said, I actually did have quite a fun afternoon/night at the downshift and euro meets, despite the fine

Those are the type of cops which deserve to get beaten at a train station on a saturday night.

Full srs with that comment. **** every last one of them. We pay their wages the little grubs.

Some cops are actually decent blokes though. My mate had a stanced as f&*k oneiva, went to the city and received $2000 in defects. When he took he fines to the local police station (Hornsby), the cop in charge told him most of the defects were bull**** and he shouldn't have gotten them.

                    • i got defected last friday, a roid monkey clearly wearing a female officers uniform n a newbie lil skinny twat in a paddy detained me for around about an hour n a half just for a highway unit to arrive to search the car...notevensureifsrs. or legal for that matter...

glad i found the strength to keep my mouth shut otherwise more trouble would have been had but bottom line is, they really need to rethink the use of resources as said by Ben and focus on more important things than for example, a mere few hundred dollars, and maybe focus on the more important things e.g. finding that kid at the meet or absolutely anything else

Agreed. As most know I've also been done by them much worse in the past., so no need for me to go into that now. I fully support the police who deal with serious matters, they are invaluable.

The ones in traffic though who think they need to get cars with modifications (that often make them safer than new) off the road instead of the typical, non maintained actually dangerous cars owned by people who have no idea about cars, are pathetic.

                        • To be fair there would be kids at that meet, that would be driving completely unsafe cars. Some people spend there money of asthetic mods instead of maintenance, most driving on cheapest everything with little to no car knowledge apart from how to unbolt things and log into JDMST. When you trawl through bigger forums than us, there are people out there that are doing incredibly unsafe things to there cars to achieve scene looks. I can think of one mustang in the states that cut his control arms and welded and piece inbetween to make them longer so he could get camber on his wheels. The welding was shody and they look incredibly unsafe. This mustang was also running like 500 hp ls motor in it. They need to rethink there laws in reguards to modifcations and not just outsource everything to low or too wide as unsafe. As ben said most modifcations improve cars from stock with higher quality parts.
