Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Front fender removal?

I managed to find a cheap replacement front passenger side fender, I am planning on removing my stock one and replacing it with a sticker bombed fender. Is there anything I should look out for when removing the fender? Is it fairly straight forward or is there any hidden bolts I should be aware of? Cheers in advance guys

remove the arch liner, all the rest of the screws are obvious.
I had some trouble with the glue holding the top of the guard down, in the end I managed to 'slice' the glue using fishing line as you would debadging the back of a car.

If I recall correctly I used a heat gun to soften the glue on the top of my fenders, makes them easy to pull off (after you've taken out all the bolts ofcourse)
