  • '94 VR6 wires and abs issues

Guys, is it possible that my obd1 vr6 came with an obd2 wiring harness? I've got 2 cut wires at the back of the engine right next to the oxygen sensor and rear knock sensor. Could this just be a secondary oxygen sensor that the previous owner cut off? Not sure why I would have the wiring for it in a '94 though..

Also, my ABS hasn't been working since I bought it. Didn't really know for the first few months as the PO took out the abs bulb I've got a 00276 - ABS Outlet Valve: Left Rear (N136) code and 00259 - ABS Inlet Valve: Front Right (N99) What parts seem to be faulty here?

    Cheers

Is it a genuine 2 door VR6 or a made up one in which case all sorts of unknown bits may have been used.

I don't think that's it. Anyone else that can shed some light on this or the abs issues?

I think the abs sensors for the left rear & front right have packed up.
And maybe the abs sensor rings for FR.
How do u know the previous owner took the bulb out ?

Take some pics of the cut wires, are they tapped up or something
If a obd2 wiring harness was put in, there'd be more than just 2 cut wires !

Is your cam cover plastic or metal ?
Who remembers how to tell the difference with a Obd2 throttle body ?

I saw a photo a long time ago that showed the difference between obd1 and obd2 and I made sure mine was obd1.

The 2 cut wires "branch" off the same area as the oxygen sensor and the rear knock sensor. Not taped up, just chopped off and exposed. I think they were yellow or green - have to check again. No issues with the car, just curious what this is/why's it missing/why do I have it.

Most probably 1's a sensor and 1's a magnetic ring
Chances are sea salt would have gotten to it when it was shipped

                does ABS stay on permanently?

or does it go on and off intermittently?

If the first, it could be a broken wheel sensor wire, test the wiring from the plug upwards with multimeter and sound test. To assure you have continuity. Then clean the Wheel sensor and ring. If it continues to give issues. Go to next step.

If the second, It maybe your PCB board under the ABS pump, pull it apart and re-solder all the joins. This should hopefully fix it.
