Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • The Vento

I thought I'd better start a thread with this car...

Swapped my mk2 gti for this vento (anthony-t old one). Drives good just needs a few things fixed up and ill be driving this daily. Ill let the photos do most of the talking.
As it looked when i picked it up

It already had coils on it, so the first thing i did after owning it for two days was slam it...

I got together with a few guys and in about an hour it was done

    Fresh off the jack

And a few photos after a wash and once the coils settled a bit.

And just on Friday i got these wheels in the mail! Super keen to get these on and just drive the crap out of it. I think with the black trim they should fit in real well.

    Ill keep the progress posted.

    Cheers brad.

Yeah man it's sick. Passenger side? Was it just a matter of plugging and un plugging?

Yeah pretty much. I unplugged the switch on the drivers side aswell. And disconnected the connection to the motor. But yeah then it worked.

Only thing that i need to sort out is the weird miss firing it does when under acceleration when a tad cold.

Ebay wheels, awesome. What tyres are you thinking about wrapping around them?

195/45/15 or 185/45 i think. I want just enough stretch to fit them while this low, but be able to drive it everyday of you get what i mean?

I had 185/45's on my Vento, looked awesome but sucked as a daily. If you want a little more comfort, decent lows, nice tuck and zero scrub go for 175/55's...best tyre size choice I ever made. Looks a bit fatter than a 45 though.
Is your Vento auto or manual?
