    Hi guys,

I'm attempting to get my vr6 cruise control working. I've done all the diagnostics on it (pump works, vacuum is holding, all the switches on the stalk work and send power to the ecu plug) and have narrowed it down to the Cruise ECU. So being the tightass I am, I went to a wrecker and picked up 2 ECUs off some mk3 GLs for 20 bucks.

Surely one of the two would work... Right? WEll apparently not. I've had both in the car and I'm not getting any response from it whatsoever. Not even a glimpse.

So the question is, is it likely that both of the ones I've bought broken as well? Or is there something I'm missing like a relay or a fuse?

    Cheers

The relay in these always and i mean ALWAYS cacks themselves in these. There is a tutorial somewhere on how to replace it and get the unit working again. I'll hunt around and see if i can find it for you. Its pretty simple as long as you can or know someone with basic soildering skills.

Thanks for that mate. So it's not worth trying another unit? Where would I get the relays they talk about?

Super Cheap, Orderbahn, Jaycar. Common automotive relay probably cost you about $2-5. I suggest getting a body gromet for the hole you feed the wires thru and some heat shrink to keep it all nice and neat.
