just got the car a GL 2.0L auto.My son helped wash the engine compartment and now the engine wont start it cranks and i dried everything out.The battery was disconnected during the wash and also now the stock radio does not work dont have the security code.Checked spark and fuel seem ok.Fuek pump runs for a short time then stops when you turn key to ignition.At a bit of a loss to what direction to take next.Any thoughts from you experienced golf mk3 guys would be great.The car is for my son he is so happy with it but it wont run!!!.Looking at a code reader also maybe a fault is logged in the ecu.

had some luck.this morning car started but coil arcing at coil guess i need a new coil.i read that this can be a common problem. -
Spray some wd40 on the coil and then try and start it.'95 Golf 3dr... low. slow. loud.Comment

Its always the coilpack. Dont get it wet. No 1 Rule.
You will need a replacement. 10 second fix though.
