Meet the Mk3 i just had to save

Hi guys, i saw this thing on deathrow, bad reverse and been a bit neglected, i looked at the potential for parts as i has first dibs on it and the more i looked at it i thought no way this car has the minerals to be saved and be made something different. It has the ADZ 1.8 and 020 and its a sound runner, has no elec windows and is very basic. Im gonna run it for a bit to run back and forth to the workshop but i have serious plans for it and possible next week ill be sighting a mill very suitable for transplant whenever i feel like it. I am in the process of doing a 6N2 1.8T project and i thought what the hell this things gonna get the same. . Ultimately the Polo is key in my mind at the moment but whilst im concentrating in that im gathering for the MK3 , why not?? Ive sold a couple of cars that were in my way with just my 6N1 to get rid of once i fix the gearbox, of which has now made it to the shop for that so project fun is only weeks away!!!

2 1.8T projects look like my midlife along wth the FJR1300 im keen on buying!!!

Nice, I just picked up a mk3 GL Wolfsburg Edition off a guy from work, AGG 2L with 5 speed, had plans to take the running gear and transplant it into my mk1, but the car is too good, has all the options I would want in it and is a happy little daily, looks like I'm the happy owner of 3 now!

MK3 love much be in the air at the moment. I just got my cabrio registered which I picked up dirt cheap a couple months ago

Tim, i think you are right pal, i could have a Mk5 Gti over and over but ill stick to fixing them for now, i still got a soft spot for the oldies. If i want a bit of new i take my 4Mo wagon for a much loved Blap.

Looks like an unwanted pound dog about to be put down just landed itself exclusive use of the Taj Mahal's back lawn and a truck load of schmackos.

True that Joe, wife needs a car for work now until the VR is ready so fixed reverse gear , box going back in tmw, be used till need be , it runs as smooth as, no way breaking it, will be a nice one for someone in the future, and no elec windows to worry about either, all manual.
Ill update on this wee gem soon

As new job fast approaching need a daily till VR Ready, wife still using the 4Mo to get to work, fat chance me getting it LOL. Reverse gear all sorted now, new clutch and a quick run round the block and has a dud drivers front wheel bearing, squeeze that in this week between last jobs and it be roadworthy by the end of the week hopefully. Its still running the super dooper rodney Jane Racing ultimate mega super fantastic wheels but only till i have suitable donors, then some 4x100 mitsi or something can have the RJR wheels. Dont want to spend too much as the VR is in mid repair. Still this wee car should be a nice cheap daily for now, super surprised at how much has been spent on it by the previous owner, its obviously been kept mechanically good till the reverse carked it.
Wil update with pics once she is cleaned up.

Thanks, yeah i agree. Also looking forward to getting my VR home, still on the dozer yet. Having fun gathering the bits though. Thought changing roles i would have loads more time lol, 2 mk3s and my Polo Turbo project.

All rego,d and on the road, anyway thats half the story. The fun never ends, on maiden voyage oil light comes on of course. Glad i know wtf goes on otherwise it could have come to an end very soon. Anyway sump off clean the teabag, clean sump and rebuild and test for the next morning for work. All sweet so yep really am saving this wee bugger lol. As Iron man clearly says they are fun, of course i been around VW since i left school and own a fairly new VW but its a hoot to drive. Good little tub to commute and use it for whatever. I might add some fun to it later who knows. Need to get rid of the **** wheels though they do my head in, but VR ready soon and when the dust settles ill be getting back into the Polo so got limits.
