Has anyone ever put a non VW motor in a VW? And not just the aircoolers/WRX swaps either.

Because its heaps easier to get power out of the 1.8T than it is to get power from a VR6. $1500 will get you 147ish kw out of the 1.8T whereas the same price tag will get 135ish kw from the VR.

Theres been a few Porsche swaps! I think there was a Karmann Ghia at EasterNats a few years ago with a 993 Turbo motor in it.

Yeah, but thats still an aircooler to porsche swap. Very common. What about the watercoolers?

I've heard of Honda engine swaps, more commonly the K20A ones (S2000?). Most have been done on Mk1 and Mk2 though.
                Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Yeah Ray I've heard of the honda swap didn't some guy put a worked Integra Type R engine into his MK1, put out around 225hp, not bad realy. I know thats a good engine, don't like the car it came from though. I've some of the toyota engines been put to good used in VW's. I've heard of some toyota motors being used like the 4AGE, and the supercharged 4AGZE I think its called. Oh and a VR6T will almost always make more power than a 1.8T.

Yeah buddy you can go for some nice agressive cams 268' or therebouts, and do some engine and CPU work i.e like a 98' octane tune, and other smaller things exhaust etc. You should be bumping a bit over 200hp with a bit of work. But these aren't big numbers, forced induction is the only alternative to drastically increasing power in smaller capacity motors.

just put a turbo on it, it will cost around 1500 to put a turbo on if u do all the work ur self, use 2nd hand parts, dont put high boost and u wont have any problems wit the engine and u will feel a difference in power. and if u dont want a turbo just get some stage 1 cams, hight flowed exhaust throught the whole thing from the engine, high flow air intake and if u put a pod filter make sure u do a proper cold air intake because if u dont then ull loose heaps of power. but turbo is the way to go and its not as hard to put 1 on as ppl make it to be
