What is a suitcase exhaust?

excuse my noobiness but what part of the exhaust is the suitcase? is it in the middle of the car or around the tail?

See below, apprently the Mk3 has 4 "muffling sections" on its exhaust system

its the one next to your rear axle beam so second last muffler

Rear muffler (behind the rear axle) is the suitcase.
Middle muffler (between the front and rear axle) is the resonator or the hotdog.

On a Mk3 its different.

Suitcase is first before axle then you have a back box being rear muffler.

yea so you should have catalytic converter 1st . resonator is 2nd . suitcase is 3rd and then rear muffler 4th at the end.
