  • Porting VR6 exhaust mani on a daily - any point?

    Hullo,

So I've finally gotten my hands on a mani and downpipe for my vr6. After having a good poke and prod at it last night (never seen one up close before), I'm wondering is it worth porting it (and perhaps gasket matching?) even though the mein dub is strictly a daily?

    Watcha all think?

According to that thread on vortex (how to build a reliable streetable powerful 12V Vr6 motor) porting the exhaust manifold (and gasket matching) got the thumbs up. I believe the generic architecture of the heards/extractors was ok though.

Porting the manifolds will not add any extra noise also.

Yeah I ported the manifold and had the downpipe backwelded and ported out that too when I had the vr6, I'd certainly recommend it if you have the tools and such. Made a noticable difference to power even though I was running a stock (suitcaseless) exhaust.

Look at it this way, unless you do something seriously wrong, it can't hurt to do, and if you do it right, its very much worthwhile
