  • 13x7 +20 on a MK3. Fitment problems

Just a quick question guys, I tried to test fit some wheels the other day. Rears cleared just fine, but the fronts hit the calliper and looks like I'll need at-least a 10mil spacer.
Was wondering if anyone had similar spec wheels on their cars or others that can show me photos of?

Technically speaking I'm looking at 13x7 +10 up front! Too much poke? Too small rim?

    Obligatory fitment pictures.

Also, I need hub adapters to run them, how much would they set me back?

The ****? 13's fit over the 256mm brakes? I always thought they didn't.

    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

Haha that's awesome. I say do it! With an et10 should be fine. I was going to run 7 et0 with vr widetrack so I'd say you have nothing to worry about. I too am surprised it clears the rotors.

I got a 7 with a et of 20 with a 20mm spacer and I have good poke. This is on a vr too.

offset plays no part in if a wheel will clear or not...
            13s on a mk3? madness!

Yes, rechecked if they fit over the rotors. They do surprisingly! Just need spacers to clear callipers and obviously extended wheels studs and centre bore adapters.
Any idea where I can source some?

I'm not sure where the best place to buy them is but I recommend putting some on the rears to keep it even.

Measure the centrebore accurately and have the hub-centric rings custom-made. Hub Rings / Spigot rings for wheels 4,75 are helpful, but they're based overseas so won't get here super quick. Spacers and extended wheel bolts, yeah some eBay vendors have them. You'd want them hub-centric and wheel-centric too.

13's are tiny for a mk3! Even on the little mk1's they look small. Must admit in those test fit photos they look kinda cool in a different kind of way, will be hard to pull off though.

Ebay has heaps of cheap hub/wheelcentric spacers. I have a set of 5x100 ones coming so I can let you know where I got them from and what I think of the quality when I get them in the next couple of days if you like. Adaptec will custom make them to the exact centrebore of the wheel if you want to pay a little more and maybe wait a little while, wouldn't need to run the rings then.

If you're going to be spending money on buying those wheels, spacers, bolts and maybe tyres etc you may be better off looking for something that fits a bit nicer. If they're yours or you're getting them for free or really love the style or something, then thats a different matter and it could be worth it.

are you sure they actually fit on?? or are you sure they're actually 13's and not 14s?

becareful of pushing a really skinny wheel really far out, doesn't always look good

Be careful with these wheels and buying extended bolts for them because you need special bolts that are "hole-centric"... not many shops stock them because wheels aren't designed like that any more.....I had these same wheels on my "hectiva" so If you're set on running these then I can maybe sell you the bolts I ran.........

                          and I'll quote Jarred....

though might be ok with the chunky tires....

I wasn't getting the wheels for free, tyres were shot too. So I was about to pay a bit of a premium price. Not any more, decided against it guys, costs are just adding up. I just want some cheap wheels with legal tread now, the ones on the car are almost out and I don't want the pepperpots any more.
Currently bidding on a set of wheels on e-bay, very similar specs to the current wheels, but have good tread on it and look a fair bit better than the 5 spokes I've got on now.

                            Cheers for the help.
                            Much appreciated!
