  • VR6 coolant leak near drain plug

Just noticed slow dripping from an area about 5mm to the drivers side of the coolant drain plug. Just did the radiator on the weekend do I messed around with the actual plug a fair bit. Here's a photo: (photo is sideways)

Anyone know what this could be? So frustrating

Trying to work out what I'm looking at...

The o ring is ok for plug? Housing ok?

Hmm.. Did a bit of research, pretty sure it's where the crack pipe goes into the water pump... Makes sense because the new radiator holds pressure unlike the old one which had a hole, now the pressure makes something else give way. What now?

The picture is of the coolant drain plug on the bottom of the crack pipe. there's no o-ring on the plug but there is where the crack pipe goes into the water pump so I think that's it

Never done one in the car. But vortex says it isn't that hard at all.

Hmm... Are you doing the crack pipe too? And is it worth getting all those parts that are listed on that DIY?

Oh right a separate order? I might just wait a bit because I'm going to see if it works sealing it up with sealant first then if that fails I'll get the crack pipe. Still if anyone else has done their crack pipe, let me know if you did all the parts/recommend all the parts listed on the DIY

No worries. Let me know if otherwise

                            Good idea.

Just bring a bottle of water or coolant.

Everytime you stop for fuel top it up.

It doesnt leak that bad? I drove around for a little while with a leaking waterpump that dropped a tonne. And had no issues.

Yeah its really slow dripping, haven't driven it yet though so we'll see what happens. Definately don't want to miss GAD
