  • few issues -rattling, bfi mounts, VIDEO

Hey guys, just wanted to post all my little issues in one go and see if we can resolve some. First of all, I've been having this rattle since I got my stage 1 bfi mounts in and it happens only at about 1k revs so everytime I take off and at idle when cold I can hear it. Started to pull out some interior bits and found the source:

It's coming from down there. I squeezed my phone in there and recorded this:

What do you guys reckon? Is that area down there accessible without pulling out the whole dash?

    Next little problem:

Should my bfi mounts be raising the engine this much? Is it possible that the front mount was swapped with the rear or are they the same? Not sure since my mechanic installed these. The engine also rocks a bit and I checked all bolts and they seem to be seated correctly. Checked my subframe bushings but no signs of wear.

Lastly, whats this? It's right under the speed sensor and I wrapped it up cos the plastic disintegrated when I touched it.

Feel free to answer whatever you can!
    Thanks

oh man I hate rattles....as soon as you fix one, another one appears..... but with regards to that, it's hard to tell the location of it without actually being there.. sounds like metal on metal though, so perhaps a nut or bolt has wiggled loose...can't think what's behind there

looking at my vf mounts, the front and rear mounts are the same, but your engine does look a little wonky? how's your trans mount? is that ok? maybe that's dropped?

and is that a plug under the tape? can't make it out :/

what's the mod plate for? is this a converted 2door vr? thought it was an import?

My 0.5's made my engine look similar to this. I did the trans mount as well. Guess it could be normal?

Got the stage 1 trans mount as well and it seems fine.
The taped up thing looked similar to the speed sensor but I don't remember it being a plug - it's been a while.
And the mod plate's for being a personally imported vehicle.

I might just forget about the rattle for now as the weather's getting warmer so it's hardly coming up. Also might get a g60 trans mount from dubaddiction to ease up the vibrations, I heard that's the source of most of the vibration.

Still open to ideas for the rattle, especially if it's accessible from the firewall or maybe a common bolt back there that's echoing through the vents.

        thanks so far guys
